Create and Assign Open Shifts

Create an Open Shift

To create an open (unassigned) shift

  1. Open the shift creation form.

  2. Fill in shift details (date, time, role, etc.).

  3. In the "Assign Employee" field, select "UNASSIGNED".

  4. Click "Create Shift" to save.

View Open Shifts

All open shifts will appear in the "Open Shifts" section.

To view all unassigned shifts, simply click on the black "Open Shifts" bar.

Unassign an Existing Shift

To convert an assigned shift into an open shift:

  1. Click on the shift card to open the "Edit Shift" screen.

  2. In the "Assign Employee" dropdown, select "UNASSIGNED".

  3. Click "Update Shift" to save the changes.

This is helpful if the originally assigned employee can no longer cover the shift.

Assign an Open Shift

There are two ways to assign an open shift to an employee:

Drag & Drop

  1. Click the black rectangle to view open shifts.

  2. Hover over the desired shift.

  3. Click, hold, and drag the shift to the target cell (employee/date).

  4. Release to assign.

Edit & Assign

  1. Click the black rectangle to view open shifts.

  2. Select the shift you want to assign.

  3. In the "Assign Employee" dropdown, choose the employee.

  4. Click "Update Shift" to confirm.
